Description
Delicious and soft sourdough cinnasticks topped with a creamy glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Sourdough Starter
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Whole Milk
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
- 2 tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of active sourdough starter, 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of whole milk, melted butter, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon until the mixture is smooth and fully incorporated.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it is soft and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, approximately 1/2 inch thick, then cut it into even sticks.
- Place the sticks on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 18 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and fragrant.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add a splash of milk for a drizzle-able consistency.
- Once the cinnasticks are baked and still warm, generously drizzle the creamy glaze over the top.
Notes
- Ensure your sourdough starter is active for the best rise and flavor.
- You can substitute all-purpose flour with bread flour for a chewier texture.
- Almond or oat milk can be used for a dairy-free option.
- Coconut sugar can replace granulated sugar for a richer taste.
- Plant-based butter is a great alternative to unsalted butter.
- Opt for high-quality cinnamon to enhance the flavor.
