Description

A deliciously thick and citrusy dessert made with cornstarch, perfect for cutting into squares.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Grease an 8-inch square pan with oil or nonstick spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until dissolved.
  3. Once dissolved, bring to a gentle boil without stirring.
  4. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch with 1/2 cup water in another bowl until smooth.
  5. Gradually whisk the cornstarch mixture into the boiling syrup and stir continuously until thickened (about 5-7 minutes).
  6. Remove from heat and stir in orange zest and cinnamon powder.
  7. Pour into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Let cool at room temperature for about 4 hours or until firm.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before cutting into squares.
