Description

Delicious homemade meatballs made with ground beef, sausage, and spices.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 1 lb ground sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 1 cup quick oats (or crushed crackers)
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature ideally)
  • 1/2 cup onion (finely diced, optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix ingredients together in a bowl well.
  2. Make into round 1-inch balls and place on non-stick baking sheet.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they are lightly browned on the inside and cooked in the middle.
  5. Remove and serve or, if you want to add sauce and serve as an appetizer, place cooked meatballs into a 9×13 dish.
  6. Pour desired sauce on top, enough to cover them all well, and bake for an additional 10 minutes so they can soak up the sauce.
  7. Serve with toothpicks.

Notes

  • These meatballs can be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
  • Experiment with different sauces for variation.
