Boxed Brownies with Festive Frosting

Description

These delicious boxed brownies can be cut into festive shapes and decorated for the holidays!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • as needed Food coloring (if you want to make colored frosting)
  • as desired Festive sprinkles or candies

Instructions

  1. Make brownies, homemade or boxed version for 9×13 pan.
  2. Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Make your brownies and let them cool completely. Once they are cooled, cut them into triangles, whatever size you want.
  3. Make the frosting or use store-bought frosting.
  4. Whip the butter about a minute using a hand or stand mixer.
  5. Add in the confectioner’s sugar in several batches beating on low after each addition. Scrape the bowl down and repeat the process.
  6. Add a tablespoon of the cream while mixing on low then add the vanilla.
  7. Beat until you have an even, fluffy consistency. You can add more cream or milk if desired for a thinner consistency.
  8. Color the frosting if desired, using food coloring.
  9. Frost brownies with an offset spatula or use a star-shaped tip with a pastry bag to create designs.
  10. Add festive sprinkles, crushed candy canes, M&M candies, or chocolate chips to the frosting.
  11. Once decorated, let the frosting firm up and then place the brownie trees in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
